How to update from the old CodeCanyon version
Use this guide if you purchased WP Cost Estimation on CodeCanyon and want to move an existing WordPress site to the current official version.
Plan this update for the exact installed and target versions. Code inspection of the private 10.6.4 snapshot found a destructive uninstall hook; it does not establish the behavior of today’s distribution. No WordPress migration was run for this guide.
2. Back up the site first
Back up the complete WordPress files, uploads and database, and verify restoration. Export the forms as a separate precaution. Keep exports private: they may contain settings, credentials or submission data depending on scope and options.
3. Test on staging when the site is important
Use an isolated staging copy with emails, external integrations and live payments disabled. Check the exact source-to-target version pair and the available import format before touching production.
4. Replace or update the plugin files
Deactivation and uninstalling are different operations. Do not assume that deleting the plugin preserves its tables: the inspected 10.6.4 uninstall code drops plugin tables. Validate the version-specific export → uninstall → official install → activation → import procedure on staging before choosing it; a forms export is not a complete site backup.
5. Check forms, submissions and payments
After an applicable update or import, compare forms, IDs and shortcodes, conditional logic, calculations, submissions/orders, uploaded files, PDF/email settings, payment keys and options. Which data survives depends on the version and export scope; preservation has not been tested here. Reconfigure missing settings and verify licensed access separately.
6. Ask support if you are unsure
If a required check fails, restore the verified files/database backup and matching plugin version on staging. Resolve the version-specific procedure with support before production; do not rely on re-importing forms alone to recover all data.
